The 15th Annual H.U.G.S. (Help Us Grow Safely) Children's Health and Safety Fair for youth will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Henkle Middle School in White Salmon on March 5.
This free event is open to all area youths and their families.
Many educational booths, giveaways and demonstrations will focus on fun and healthy opportunities and activities in our area. There will be music, entertainment, special guests, traditional displays, new exhibits and much more. As always, local businesses have donated a wide variety of door prizes to give away. This year, donations of items for the local food bank will be accepted gratefully at the door.
Youth can participate in the popular "passport" activity and earn a special prize by getting their passport stamped by participating exhibitors.
Many exhibitors will have hands-on activities for youth and the passport opportunity rewards youth for getting actively involved at the H.U.G.S. Fair.
This year's sponsors include Henkle Middle School Project Open Door, WSU-Klickitat County Extension/4-H, the Klickitat County Public Health Department, Skamania-Klickitat Community Network, Columbia Gorge Safe Kids Coalition, the Skyline Foundation and Mt. Adams Soroptimists.
The H.U.G.S. Fair planning committee is seeking new members as well as volunteers to help on the day of the fair. Donations are appreciated as well.
