Lyle's Study Circles are now forming. Join in forming the future of Lyle. Let's talk about what kind of community we want to live in, and what we know about poverty in Lyle. Lyle connects us, we live here and we love it. But how can we make it more? If we work on getting rid of poverty, we can have a better community. Let's connect what we think, feel and know, with what is already happening and what we want to see happen. This is a program called Horizon and funded by WSU Extension programs. Choose a group and join others on Saturday mornings at the Fire House from 9 to 11 a.m. (5th and Washington streets), starting Nov.1. The Song of the Rivers (a history of Lyle by Elizabeth McDowell): "V THE PRESENT LYLE -- Their names tell the History of Lyle, in themselves. Names like Buck and Thoren, and Sorensen and Coppick and Tuthill and White and Witt, and Burroughs, are also woven into the story; Rutledge and Baker and Hoover and Krall and Wall and McNabb, to name a few more. Ralph Hamm and his wife came down from Pendleton (from Washougal -- according to my father Marshall Hamm) to ranch on land west of Lyle. I. A. DeBois settled by Roland Lake. The list goes on and on."
