Hockinson led at every break in play but couldn't secure its 45-40 Trico Division victory over Stevenson until late in last Friday's game.
Monica Leonard's 10 points were tops for upset minded-Stevenson (0-2, 2-6), which trailed 18-16 at halftime and 28-27 entering the fourth quarter.
A 16-for-31 effort from the foul line, however, kept the Bulldogs from winning the game on their homecourt.
Stevenson's Trico opener against Castle Rock on Jan. 3 was not as close.
The visiting Rockets (1-0, 4-5) made 50 percent of their shots from the floor (33/66) and had three players score in double digits.
Freshman Lacey Seidl's 29 points triggered the Rock's landslide victory.
Rylee Walker led the Bulldogs with 10 points in a game that featured 66 free-throw attempts (33 by each team).
