Typical symptoms of Meningococcal Disease include a high fever, headache, a stiff neck, and red rash. The rash often involves the hands and feet. It is not a highly contagious disease and is transmitted only through direct contact with respiratory droplets from sneezing or coughing, or through kissing or sharing eating utensils.

Public health nurses are working with local medical agencies to prevent new cases and to tell people how to prevent such illness.
