Approximately 1,300 students, including Justine Rawding of White Salmon, were named to the Niagara University academic dean's list for spring 2006 semester.
To qualify, students must attain a 3.25 academic grade point average for the semester.
Hanna graduates from U of W
Kelly Hanna, White Salmon, will graduate from the University of Washington this June with a bachelor of arts degree in women studies.
Hinman earns her degree
Jessica Hinman, a 2002 graduate of Columbia High school, graduated on May 25, 2006, from California State University, Long Beach. A psychology major and criminology minor, Hinman graduated cum laude and was named to the president's list for the spring 2006 semester, earning a GPA of at least 3.75. She was selected among 12 students, receiving an award for Outstanding Seniors in Psychology.
During her tenure at CSULB, Hinman has served as the secretary of Psi Chi, the psychology honor society, and for the past year and a half has been conducting research with Dr. Courtney Ahrens on rape survivors, rape disclosures, and the reactions survivors receive.
The research group has been conducting community presentations on the findings of their study. An article co-authored by Hinman is currently being reviewed for publication in several journals. In addition to her empirical work, Hinman was also a counselor at the Sexual Assault Crisis Agency in Long Beach where she worked on a crisis hotline and served as an advocate in Los Angeles County hospitals.
Hinman will continue her education at Pacific University of Portland in its doctorate program in clinical psychology. She plans to specialize in forensic issues.
She is the daughter of Chuck and Camille Hinman, White Salmon.
Three named to Eastern honor roll
Following is a listing of undergraduate students who have qualified for the dean's honor list at Eastern Washington University for winter quarter 2006.
To be listed, a student must carry at least 12 credits and achieve a grade point average of 3.5 (4.0 scale) or above.
Those making the grade included: Ben Lingo, Klickitat; Simone Woods, Lyle; and Keith McMillen, White Salmon.
