Dave'y Lumley was a three-event winner for Trout Lake/Glenwood last Saturday at the annual Thompson- Simcoe Relays invitational track and field meet in Goldendale. Lumley swept the throws, winning the shot put, discus and javelin, in that order, to lead the Mustang Eagles to a strong third-place finish with 86 points.
Lumley's hat trick in field events was rivaled on the track by Lyle/Wishram sprinter Teaera Churchwell's first-to-the-finish efforts in the 100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes.
Churchwell established a personal record in the 100 of 12.80 seconds in a very close finish with Tonya Smith of Naches Valley. As a team, the Cougars had the fourth-best total (68) in a nine-team field.
Other individual standouts on the day included TLG's Neola Putnam and Samantha Brewer of Klickitat; each won two events. Putnam was victorious in the 800- and 1600-meter runs, while Brewer scored victories in the 100 high hurdles (with a personal record of 16.18 seconds) and the high jump.
Kindra VanLaar and Anna Schmid also contributed to TLG's success with winning performances in the pole vault and 300 low hurdles respectively. Earlier, Schmid ran second to Brewer in a close 100 high hurdles race, in a PR time of 16.23.
Brewer's teammates, Tia Spino and Zoe Lindner, provided second-place points for Klickitat, which tallied 60 overall. Spino finished behind Lumley in the shot put and Lindner was runner-up to the TLG thrower in the javelin with a PR of 97 feet, 10 inches.
