Pair marry at St. Mary's

Father Jim Stevens from Madras, Ore., performed the double-ring, candlelight ceremony before approximately 200 guests. Stephanie Ruvalcaba and Sister Shelly from Rainier, Ore., sang to the accompaniment of organist Faith Ackerman.

Given away in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white satin, organza dress, featuring a princess-design skirt accented with seed pearls and sequins and a chapel-length train. The Elen Henderson-design veil was made of tulle and seed pearls held by a tiara of sequins.

Crystal Hunsaker, White Salmon, served as maid of honor for her sister. Bridesmaids were Sherry Blevins, White Salmon, and the bride's cousin Vinny Bagby, Austin, Texas. The groom's sister, Alejandra Salazar, White Salmon, was the junior bridesmaid and Amber Andrews, the bride's cousin, Albuquerque, N.M., was the flower girl. Allocen Andrews, the bride's cousin, also of Albuquerque, N.M., was a candlelighter. All the attendants' dresses were made by the mother of the bride.

Matthew Mitchell, Husum, was the best man. Carlos Salazar, the groom's brother, and Kevin Stevens, were groomsmen. Julio Salazar, the groom's brother, was the candlelighter and Noe Salazar, also a brother of the groom, was the ringbearer.

Following the wedding, a reception was held at the Expo Center in Hood River. A wedding buffet, music and cake were offered to guests under butterfly decorations.

The bride is a 2000 Columbia High School graduate, currently attending Columbia Gorge Community College. She is employed as a dietary cook at Skyline Hospital.

The groom is a 1997 CHS graduate, currently employed by Nelson Tire Factory in Hood River.

The couple took a short trip to Kahneeta following the wedding and plan to take a cruise to the Caribbean in February. They are currently at home in Bingen.
