GENEVA MCNICHOLL
Geneva Arlene McNicholl, also known as Mrs. Mac or Grandma Mac, died at the age of 112 years, 1 month and 12 days at the Columbia Basin Nursing home in The Dalles, Ore., where he had resided since February 1994.
Mrs. Mac was born in Lafayette, Ore., on Dec. 10, 1889, to Sylvester and Lovina (Henry) Grazer. Her mother shared her birthday and also lived to be 99+ years.
She was married in 1918 to railroad work Harry E. Rogers. After their divorce, she worked in Portland and the coastal areas.
After marrying her second husband James McNicholl, they moved to Cooks, where they built and operated a grocery store/Shell gas station. She continued operating the store herself, after their divorce, until her retirement in 1966.
The outdoors were a great enjoyment to her; hunting and fishing in her younger years. In later years, she traveled extensively. Also of great enjoyment to her were her gardens, trees and flowers, especially rhododendrons.
She was a member of the Minerva Chapter #104 Order of Eastern Star in Portland, Ore. for 74 years.
Attending dinners, activities, and tours with her friends at the Skamania County Senior Center provided much entertainment to her.
Her brothers Chester and Leland proceeded her in death. She is survived by son Robert; grandsons Leland and Alan; granddaughter Diane; great-grandsons Robert E. II, Gary, Philip, Timothy, Andrew and Christopher; great-granddaughter Michelle; and great, great-grandsons Brennan, Darren and Noah.
