Noboru Hamada
Noboru Hamada, a lifelong Parkdale, Ore., resident, died June 13, 2004, at his residence. He was 85 years of age. Services will be held on Saturday, June 19, at 11 a.m. at Anderson’s Tribute Center. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Anderson’s Tribute Center.
Noboru was born April 13, 1919, in Parkdale to Naoichi and Maki (Teramichi) Hamada. He graduated from Parkdale High School in 1939 and then served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946.
On Dec. 21, 1946, he and Mary Matsubu were married in Parkdale. He was a dedicated orchardist. He enjoyed nurturing his trees and his grandchildren. In his younger years he liked to bowl. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and attending their grandchildren’s sporting events.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Parkdale; sons Dwight of Parkdale and Roger and his wife, Barbara, of Munich, Germany; daughter Sandra Bigelow and her husband, Bill, of Bend, Ore.; granddaughter Jana Jackson; grandsons Lukas and Phillip Hamada and Ryan and Brandon Bigelow; sister Louise Hamada of Oregon City, Ore., and Iwao Hamada of Salem, Ore. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
A daughter, Maxine Jackson and siblings, Min Hamada, Nellie Matsuura, Chimiko Harris and Itaru Hamada, preceded him in death. Vault interment will be at Idlewild Cemetery.

Bobby Huff
Bobby Eugene Huff passed away on June 13, 2004, in Vancouver, Wash. He was 71 years of age.
Bobby was born May 29, 1933, in Dunnegan, Mo., to Ray and Maxine Huff. He moved to Hood River as a small child and grew up in the Hood River Valley, graduating from Hood River High School in 1951. He served 20 years in the Navy, then retired to live in Washougal, Wash.
Bobby loved working with computers and would put together computers from used components and give them to people who didn’t have one. In the last few years he enjoyed e-mailing his many friends and family, who will miss him immensely.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine; sons Timothy, Tony, and Bryan, and daughters Rhoda, Brenda and Rhonda; his father, Ray Huff; his sister and brothers, Eileen Codino, Ronald and Donald Huff; also numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine Huff.
Remembrances may be made to a hospice of your choice, as his local hospice brought him much comfort in his last days. A memorial service is pending.
George Mohun
George Lewis Mohun, a resident of Hood River since 1988, died June 8, 2004, at the Oregon Veterans’ Home in The Dalles. He was 75 years of age.
George was born March 12, 1929, in Ravenswood, Calif., the oldest of five children to George T. and Bertha Matilda (Keyser) Mohun. He was raised in Redwood City, Calif., graduated from Sequoia High School, served in the U.S. Navy Reserve and then joined the U.S. Marines and served in Korea.
He returned to the Redwood City area and worked as a tool and die machinist and was a member of the Santa Clara Rose Society, Elks and V.F.W. Lodges.
George is survived by his children, Robin Mohun, of Sunnyvale, Calif.; Kim and her husband, Jerry McMillan, of Tempe, Ariz.; and George T. Mohun, of Hood River; grandchildren, Jessica and Zachary Mohun, both of Hood River; a sister, Donna Mae Dole, of Olympia, Wash.; and his brother, Robert Mohun, of Redwood City, Calif. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lynnita Lu De Jean in 1985.
Funeral services were held at the Woodside Chapel of Crippen and Flynn Funeral Home in Redwood City, Calif., on June 15, followed by interment at Skylawn Memorial Park in San Mateo, Calif. Memorials may be made to Hood River V.F.W. Lodge.
Luhr Jensen, Jr.
A memorial service for Luhr Jensen, Jr. who passed away on May 22, 2004, will be held on the front lawn at the Luhr Jensen offices on the Port/Waterfront location on Saturday, June 19.
The Celebration of Life service will start at 2 p.m. and end when it ends. Jane Jensen and all six children will be in attendance. Friends are encouraged to come and to speak if they wish. Food and beverages will be served. For more information, call Phil Jensen at 386-3811.
Ken Williams
Mosier resident Ken Williams died Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at his home. Arrangements are pending at Anderson’s Tribute Center 386-1000.
Arnold DeRossett
A graveside service will be held for Arnold Leroy DeRossett on Thursday, June 17, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Ore. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 16, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Anderson’s Tribute Center.
Jay Clifford
Jay B. Clifford, a Hood River, Ore., resident, died June 14, 2004, at Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital. He was 75 years of age.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 19, at 4 p.m. at the Hood River Valley Christian Church.

Elizabeth Kirby
A funeral mass for Elizabeth J. “Betty” Kirby will be at 10 a.m., Friday, June 18, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Athena, Ore. A graveside service will be held the same day at 3:30 p.m. at St. Mary Cemetery in Hood River, followed by refreshments at the church parish hall.
Mrs. Kirby, 73, of Athena, was born on July 6, 1930 in Hood River, and attended Hood River schools. She was a long-time Fossil, Ore., resident.
