Sept. 20 was a beautiful sunny day for the second quarterly "Mayor's Business Walk" in Bingen.
Betty Barnes, mayor of Bingen, and Marsha Holliston, manager of the Mt. Adams Chamber of Commerce, focused on the east end of Bingen this go around, visiting businesses to show support of the local business community.
The Mayor's Business Walk was organized by the Chamber as part of a program meant to expand the bridge of communication and opportunities with the local business community.
The "Mayor's Business Walk" program will take place quarterly with Mayor Barnes, along with the Chamber, traveling to different businesses to extend a supporting hand and ask business owners/managers how the City and Chamber can be more helpful.
"Businesses are the backbone of our city's economy. Community vitality depends on the success of our businesses and helping them grow must remain a top priority. We are committed to supporting all our businesses," said Mayor Barnes. "City governments must provide every possible tool to help them survive and prosper. I applaud the chamber's efforts to support those businesses that define the dynamism and character of our neighborhoods, and serve as the economic engine of our entire city."
