With three election contests facing voters in the upcoming Sept. 19 primary, the Lyle Community Council is stepping up with a "candidates' night" event to help voters learn more about the candidates.
The meeting will be on Monday, Aug. 28, at the Lyle Lions Community Center, beginning at 7 p.m.
Klickitat County will have three important primary races on the ballot as follows: the Klickitat County Prosecuting Attorney position, where incumbent Republican Tim O'Neill is being challenged by Republican Julie Vance; Klickitat County Sheriff, where incumbent Republican Chris Mace is being challenged by Republican Rick McComas; and for Klickitat County Commissioner in District 2, where Democrats Marc Harvey and Chris Connolly are competing to win the nomination for the open County Commission seat.
All six candidates have been invited to answer questions from the public.
"We want to make sure the information is out there, so people can make good, informed choices," said Julie Larson, who serves on the advisory board for the Lyle Community Council, sponsor of the candidates' night in Lyle.
The event is free and open to the public.
