The spring book discussion series at the White Salmon Valley Community library continues with the second title in the series, Water for Elephants: A Novel by Sara Gruen (Algonquin Books, 2006).
Copies of the book are now available for participants to pick up at the library's front desk.
The book will be discussed on Thursday, March 3, at 3:30 p.m. in the library's Sprint/Baker Gallery.

Water for Elephants races from the gate with a ripping four-page prologue as the reader is whisked back to the heyday of the American three ring circus and the third-rate traveling show known as the 'Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.'
Gruen, inspired after reading about the traveling circuses of the 1920s and 1930s, has vividly recreated the colorful and harsh existence of circus performers, workers and animals.
"With a showman's expert timing," wrote New York Times Book Review contributor Elizabeth Judd, Gruen "transform[s] a glimpse of Americana into an enchanting escapist fairy tale."
A movie based on the book and of the same title is scheduled for release in the U.S. in April 2011.
The library's book discussions will continue monthly through April. The final title in the spring series will be the international best seller The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Swedish author Stieg Larsson. Note: There has been a change in date for the final book discussion which is now scheduled for Thursday, March 31, at 3:30 p.m.
