It's not what you know, but who you know! Marcia Buser had a connection to the Luhr Jensen factory which recently moved out of the country. She was able to have several tables, chairs and other items donated to the Lyle Activity Center. Also thanks go to the local resident who gave a large monetary donation to the OLEES to aid in repairing the heating system. This community spirit's growth is exploding in a positive way. Attend the next OLEES meeting on Feb. 15, become involved and see the constructive changes occurring to our town.

The next Game Night at the Lyle Activity Center will be Jan. 29. This is a "cool" night for the community to come together to share in games, music and conversation.

Any "Birders" out there? Klickitat Trail Conservancy Eagle Spotting at Klickitat-Balfour Day Use Park will be Jan. 30 at 10 a.m. and will be led by Cathy Flick, wildlife biologist. Experience an educational winter field outing for bald eagles at the park. Bring your binoculars or a spotting scope, camera and dress warmly.

Several members and guests of the Lyle United Methodist Church enjoyed a trip to the movies last Friday to see "Avatar." Mixed reviews, but most enjoyed the vivid animation and colors.

Ms. (Eleanor) Bean's concert, on Jan. 22, 2010, was well attended at The Dalles Civic Auditorium. The Lyle Activity Center was one of those who benefited from this evening's event.

History: "New section of U.S. 830 dedicated at Lyle, June 22, 1967. -- With two snips of a four-foot pair of scissors, Miss Klickitat County, Kathy Hofstedt, clipped the red, white and blue ribbons to officially open the 6 and 1/2- mile stretch of Highway 830 from Lyle to Lock Lake last Thursday afternoon. "
