On July 17 at about 3:20 p.m., a Klickitat County Sheriff's Office corrections officer was escorting 24-year-old inmate Kevin Eugene Schilling out of East District Court in Goldendale, en route back to the jail.
Schilling suddenly fled from the officer and ran out the north side of the courthouse.
Officers gave chase but were unable to apprehend Schilling. He was last seen in the 300 block of West Broadway, Goldendale.
Numerous KCSO deputies and officers from the Goldendale Police Department conducted a search effort in the area for several hours following the escape. Officers from the Washington State Patrol and Sherman County Sheriff's Office also assisted, in addition to an airplane provided by the Hood River County Sheriff's Office and a tracking dog from the Skamania County Sheriff's Office.
The search was called off later in the evening. Schilling was originally in custody for probation violations, and in addition is now being sought for escape and theft.
At the time of the escape, Schilling was handcuffed and chained at the waist, wearing the black and white striped inmate uniform.
Schilling is a white male, 6-0, 145 lbs with short brown hair and green eyes.
KCSO asks the public to call police at 773-4545 if they have information as to Schilling's whereabouts.
