The Glenwood Homemakers elected a new president and secretary for two-year terms at the September meeting. Dannet Wheelhouse was elected to take Rachael Throop's place as president while Margaret Throop will replace Diane Burgin as secretary. Thank you to the outgoing officers for their dedication and hard work, and to the new officers for taking on their responsibilities. The October meeting will be at Terry Arnold's home on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m.
The annual open house was held at the school on Wednesday, Sept. 27. The event presented a good opportunity to see the students' work, to meet their teachers, and to visit with neighbors. The annual class would like to thank everyone who supported its taco feed on Sept. 27, as well.
Neola Putnam was one of over 3300 runners who participated in the Sunfair Cross Country Invitational in Yakima on Sept. 30. Contestants from British Columbia, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington competed in the event touted as the largest cross country competition in the Pacific Northwest on the hot fall day. Race categories included third through sixth graders from the Yakima area; seventh and eight graders; high school runners; and a community coaches fun run. Neola completed her three-mile race in 25th place in her flight and 52nd overall in the high school girls' competition. Miss Putnam will also be competing at a four-school meet at Highland High School on Oct. 3 and an invitational cross-country meet in Leavenworth on Oct. 7. Although Neola is practicing with the Goldendale High School team, due to a co-op situation, she still wears the Glenwood colors and is running for our school. Best wishes Neola as you complete the remainder of this cross country season.
