Starting July 17 through Aug. 17, the White Salmon Valley Community Library's Sprint/Baker Gallery will feature works highlighting the artistic endeavors of local home school students who have participated in co-op classes associated with the L.I.F.E. (Learning is For Everyone) in the Gorge home school group.
The title of the show is "Reflections of the Natural" and focuses on clay modeling, acrylic paintings, and figure drawing, including self-portraits in pencil and Lego.
The public is invited to join the artists for a reception on Friday, July 20, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the library.
LIFE in the Gorge parents/teachers desire to instill a love of learning in the children, while focusing on practical skills. As a result, the art classes are designed to introduce the students to basic concepts of art such as the study of lines, colors, composition, and the use of various media while encouraging students to notice and appreciate the beauty in their immediate surroundings and everyday life. Students range from 7 to 19 years old.
