Bob Beveridge, precinct committee officer, and Delegates Laurene Eldred and Terry Arnold from the Glenwood voting precinct attended the Klickitat County Republican Convention on Saturday, April 12. The convention was held at the PUD meeting room in Goldendale, and was attended by 66 county delegates. According to Klickitat County Republican Central Committee officials this was a larger-than normal turnout, and affirmed the significance of the 2008 elections. Representatives Bruce Chandler and Dan Newhouse addressed those in attendance and voiced the importance of supporting and voting for your candidates of choice.
The local delegates elected Klickitat County delegates and alternates to attend the Washington State Republican Convention in Spokane May 29 through 31. In addition to deciding on the candidates they will be supporting at the state convention, the delegates endorsed a Klickitat County platform and resolutions to be carried to Spokane.

The Glenwood Homemakers Club is in the process of collecting donated items for residents of the Oregon Veterans Home in The Dalles. There are currently 140 veterans including 120 men and 20 women living at the Oregon Veterans Home. What better way to show our appreciation for their service to the United States military than to provide special treats for veterans?
Donation collection sites include: Glenwood General Store, Shade Tree Inn and the Glenwood School office. Some of the items that are most in demand include: microwave popcorn, postage stamps, coffee beans, men's hankies, boxes of chocolate (regular and sugar free), men's cologne and after shave lotion. A more complete list of items that the veterans frequently use is available at the collection sites. For additional information, please contact Jeanie Kuhnhausen, 364-4167, or Rachel Throop, 364-3306. The plan is to deliver the collected items to the veterans by May 20.
Get well wishes are sent for several friends and neighbors: Lester Blair, Derwin Bloom, Harry Dechand, Claudette Gahimer and Vet Schultz. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
