Golf enthusiasts are invited to enter a team in Columbia Gorge Community College's third annual Founder's Cup Tournament, set for Saturday, Aug. 24, on Hood River's Indian Creek Golf Course.
The event -- a four-person scramble using the best-ball format -- is a fundraiser for the college foundation's scholarship program.
Entry deadline is Aug. 10, and spaces are filling quickly. For more information, or to sign up a team, call the CGCC Resource Development office at (541) 298-3128.
Activities will begin at 11 a.m. with skill contests for everyone. All teams will tee off at 1 p.m. after a complimentary buffet lunch at the clubhouse.
Trophy and prize winners will be announced during an informal awards ceremony that starts at 6:30 p.m.
Prizes include $600 for the first-place team, $300 for second, $200 for third, plus special prizes for Beat the Pro, putting, longest drive and closest-to-the-pin contest winners.
Players also will get the chance to win a new 2002 Dodge donated by C.H. Urness Motor Co. of The Dalles.
In addition, great prizes and items have been donated for a silent auction and drawing.
Items include a portable concrete mixer, a wooden patio glider, an antique Coke machine, gourmet gift baskets, golf accessories, gift certificates and hand-tied fishing flies.
