The Discovery Center and Museum once again offers free admission for all kids during Spring Break week, and has now expanded this invitation to include weekends.
Oregon students are free of charge from now through Sunday, March 27.
As Washington Spring breaks vary by district, students may enter without charge from Saturday, March 26, through Sunday, April 10.
Entry includes live raptor programs, twice daily at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., special programs, and book signings.
Healthy children's lunches and snacks will be available in the Basalt Rock Cafe.
To kick off Oregon's Spring break, on Monday, March 21, authors, naturalists, and sisters Bobbie Snead and Terry Irish, will join the raptor programs to present their children's book "Owl Grove," an adventure story about an endearing family of barn owls, with photos and illustrations.
Also in conjunction with the March 21 raptor programs, young-adult book author and Oregon Book Award Finalist Emily Whitman will present her novel on love and falconry, "Wildwing," an historical tale with a sci-fi twist.
The Discovery Center's Director, Carolyn Purcell, is glad to welcome families to visit during Spring vacation at reduced cost.
"We hope this will encourage local families to come see what's new, and continue to enjoy all the Discovery Center has to offer."
In addition to exhibits on Lewis and Clark, the Oregon Trail, the history of Wasco County and the Ice Age Floods, little ones will like the Kids' Explorer Room, and adults will find something new in the expanded George Lawrence Co. Saddle Making Exhibit, and the return of the Fanny Wright Van Duyne (1858-1929) photography exhibit "Tyiagh People; a Century Ago."
