The second annual Festival of Music, sponsored by the Gorge Ecumenical Ministries (GEM), was held on Sunday, Jan. 20, at the Mormon Church in Hood River.
Six choirs from five area churches presented a varied program. The Mormon Church's adult choir and children's choir, Bethel Congregational Church, Asbury United Methodist Church's adult choir and bell ringers, Riverside Community Church and Our Redeemer's 4-piece band.
The program closed with the combined choirs singing "How Great Thou Art," and "America, the Beautiful."
Also, featured on the program was the presentation of the "Church Person of the Year," by David Duncombe, president of GEM. Pastor Fridel of Asbury United Methodist Church presented the award to June Kenworthy for outstanding Christian service to the community. In addition to her duties on the GEM staff, she is actively involved with the work and worship of the Asbury Church.
