The Department of Ecology (Ecology) is asking the public to review and comment on a plan to lower temperatures in surface waters in the Little Klickitat River Watershed.
Ecology has developed the plan, called a Total Maximum Daily Load Report (TMDL), with input from a local group comprised of the Central Klickitat Conservation District, Klickitat County, the City of Goldendale, and others.
The TMDL recommends increasing the amount of shading along the Little Klickitat River and its tributaries. Primarily, it will rely on ongoing voluntary actions that landowners can and are undertaking to improve stream shading along the Little Klickitat River and its tributaries.
An informational meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6, at the Klickitat PUD in Goldendale.
Draft copies of the Little Klickitat River Watershed Temperature TMDL will be available at the meeting, and Department of Ecology staff will present information about the TMDL.
