Editor's note: The following information was inadvertently omitted from the article, "Democrats set Feb. 9 for caucuses," on Page 5 of the Jan. 24 issue. We apologize for the omission.
Democrats will caucus Feb. 9 at 1 p.m. throughout the state of Washington to express their presidential preferences and elect delegates reflecting those preferences.
Anyone who wishes to attend a Democratic Party caucus and express his/her presidential preference but cannot do so because of need to participate in religious observance, responsibilities related to military service, or a disability that does not allow attendance may complete a Caucus Surrogate Affidavit Form.
This form may be downloaded from the Washington Democrats Web site www.wa-democrats.org, and completed and sent either by mail, by fax, or as a scanned pdf file as instructed on the form. The completed form must be received at the State Democratic Party headquarters no later than Friday, Feb. 1, at 5 p.m. so that it may be forwarded to the proper local party organization prior to the Feb. 9 caucus.
This form also gives the opportunity to be elected as a delegate to the next level convention for the preferred presidential candidate.
If a person not attending a caucus simply wants to be elected as a delegate to the next level convention, but does not want to vote for a presidential preference, that person may submit a signed Letter of Candidacy directly to his/her caucus. Call the party contacts listed below for instructions how to do this.
For more information, Klickitat County voters should contact Julie Larson at (509) 365-3103, and Skamania County voters should contact Honna Sheffield at (509) 427-5031 or Norm Luther at (509) 493-1164.
