When my children were young, we borrowed a book from the library called "Summer Folk." A trip to Trout Lake Grocery Store the other day reminded me of that story. Gone are the RVs loaded with kids, dogs and camping gear. The store parking lot was empty of cars with license plates from every where but here. No one in the store was asking "where is the Lake?" I actually recogonized everyone there.
It has been an exciting summer with the bike ride, the art festival, the fair, the Pan Am Races and the family reunions. Now it's back to just us and what we are all about !
At 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, at the Presbyterian Church, practice begins for the Christmas Cantata. Many members of the Mt. Adams Baptist and Presbyterian Churches participate. All community members are invited. This year's cantata is an arrangement of "Unto Us A Child Is Born" by Ron Huff. It includes several old familiar carols such as "Mary's Little Boy Child" and contemporary anthems.
Doug Anderson will be directing and wife Janet Anderson will be accompanying. Doug was director of the vocal music program at McMinnville High School for 30 years as well as the director of the McMinnville United Methodist Church Chancel Choir. The Andersons have a growing reputation here in Trout Lake for the quality of their contributions to music, and for the good humor with which they get great results !
