Carlos Mendoza and Mark Lovrin combined for 40 points, and Columbia High held off a fourth-quarter charge by Dufur, Ore., to claim a 77-65 non-league boys basketball victory in Miller Memorial Gym Tuesday night.

The Bruins (2-1) led the game from start to finish and by as many as 22 points (52-30 midway through the third quarter). But the Rangers refused to go quietly.
