At Sunnyside Christian 62, Klickitat 25:

The host Knights started slowly last Saturday but pulled away from the Vandals by outscoring them 45-10 in the middle quarters.

Klickitat (2-5 in GCB, 4-11 overall) kept the game close for a quarter, trailing just 12-6 after one.

But the Vandals couldn't hold the Knights (8-0, 14-0) down in the second quarter. Sunnyside hit for 20 points in the second frame to build a 32-12 halftime advantage.

Levi Sanchey paced Klickitat with 12 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots.

At Riverside Christian 64, Trout Lake/Glenwood 26:

The Crusaders outscored visiting Eagles 21-2 in the first quarter last Saturday to set the tone for the outcome.

Riverside (5-1, 13-2) went on to mount a 38-7 halftime lead.

Tim Dearden's 13 points were tops for TLG (3-4, 7-7).

At Klickitat 64, Yakama Tribal 27:

The Vandals put together one of their strongest offensive games of the season last Friday.

Klickitat shot 59 from the field (28/47) and had three players score in double figures.

Herschel Sanchey led the way with 18 points (8/13 FGs). Levi Sanchey added 14 (7/8) and Jeromie Mason chipped in 11.

Much of Klickitat's success was due to its ball-hawking defense, which captured 18 steals. And once they got possession, the Vandals did a good job of sharing the basketball, finishing with 17 assists.

Herschel Sanchey paced the defense with six steals and Mason had five. On offense, Mason passes led to 10 Vandals baskets. Seth Davis got the assist on four.

Riverside Christian 75, at Lyle 45:

Joey Nelson scored 29 points last Friday but the Cougars proved to be no match for their GCB 2B Division rivals from Yakima.

The loss dropped Lyle to 4-2 in GCB standings and 6-5 overall.

At Trout Lake/Glenwood 45, Klickitat 35:

Dannon Kavanagh scored a career-high 17 points and Devin Dean grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Eagles past the Vandals Jan. 16.

TLG trailed 12-10 after one quarter but turned to its defense in the second in gaining a 23-16 halftime lead.

Tim Dearden collected seven steals for the Eagles, who put the Vandals away in the fourth quarter with a 12-6 finish.

Dearden also had 12 points for TLG and Kris Wood, who doled out nine assists, showed a steady hand in directing the Eagles' offense.

Jeromie paced Klickitat's attack, finishing with 13 points and three assists. Levi Sanchey added 10 points and 12 rebounds.

At Lyle 44, Bickleton 41:

Joey Nelson scored all 11 Cougars points in the fourth quarter as Lyle held on for the Jan. 16 victory over the Pirates.

Nelson ended with a game-high 28 points. His first 17 points helped the Cougars overcome a 13-8 first-quarter deficit and take leads of 20-17 at halftime and 33-28 after three quarters.

For Bickleton, Tyler Collins collected 12 points and 14 rebounds.

At Trout Lake/Glenwood 58, Lyle 44:

Tim Dearden and Devin Dean both posted double-doubles and the Eagles won their non-league make-up game with the Cougars.

Dearden totaled 24 points and 11 rebounds, and Dean provided 11 points and 12 rebounds for TLG, which mounted leads of 18-9 after one quarter, 32-21 at halftime and 45-23 at the end of three.

Lyle got 16 points from Joey Nelson and 11 each from Reggie Grace and Tyler Wells.
