Klickitat overcame a three-point halftime deficit last Saturday to defeat visiting Sunnyside Christian, 41-36, and remain unbeaten in Greater Columbia 1B League play.
The Vandals (4-0, 9-3) seized control of the contest in the third quarter, outscoring the Knights (2-1, 2-7) by seven points to take a 31-27 lead.
But Sunnyside, which scored off the opening tip and led by as many as seven points late in the first half, rallied one last time in the fourth quarter and took its final lead at 34-33 with just over five minutes remaining.
Klickitat countered immediately, however, as Levi Sanchey scored off a Wade Ramsey pass with 4:57 to play.
The Vandals then opened their biggest lead of the night—41-34—on 3-point baskets by Michael McConville and Ron Prominski at the 3:08 and 2:04 marks respectively.
“Beating Riverside Christian and Sunnyside Christian in the same week took an outstanding effort by our team,” Vandals Coach Joe Bales noted. “I feel pretty good about our progress right now.”
McConville led all scorers with 16 points and also made five assists.
