Lyle locked up the Klickitat County Division's No. 1 seed and a first-round bye in next week's District 5 Class B Tournament with a 79-66 victory last Friday over Yakama Tribal in Toppenish.
The Cougars had four players score in double figures on a night they out-rebounded the Eagles, 46-24.
Freshman Michael Murphy led Lyle in both categories, finishing with career-highs of 24 points and 14 rebounds.
"Mike had a big game," Cougars Coach Joe Bales said. "Tribal pressed us and Mike finished at the end of our press-breaker all night long. Our players also did an excellent job of getting him the ball down low."
Overall, Lyle did a good job of running its halfcourt offense and sharing the ball. It totaled 20 assists in the game.
"We had good player movement and good ball movement," Bales said. "We were a bit impatient at times, but we scored well, and we were consistent with our scoring."
Joey Nelson tallied 19 points, Reggie Grace had 13 and Martin Grace added 10. Joe Campbell missed making it five Cougars in double digits by a point.
The Cougars built a 40-28 halftime bulge but saw their lead slip to nine points by the end of the third quarter.
Tribal outscored Lyle, 19-16, in the third to pull within 56-47.
"Defensively it was another night where we just couldn't stop the ball on a consistent basis," Bales said. "At times they scored at will, at one time hitting eight shots in a row."
But the Cougars bounced back to win the fourth quarter 23-19 and clinch their second straight division title.
