Bingen downtown revitalization open house planned

The public is invited to review construction staging plans and general information for this project, which include parking, driveway placement, lighting, sidewalk construction, drainage work and streetscaping.

The public will also be able to give input on the project's proposed construction schedule.

This open house will be the last organized public involvement effort for this project prior to construction. However, WSDOT will continue to take comments from the public and answer questions through all phases of this project.

The city of Bingen Downtown Revitalization project is a joint project between the city and the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).

The project includes:

Construction of new sidewalks on the south side of State Route 14 from the Port of Hood River Bridge to Willow Street

Construction of new sidewalks on the north side of SR 14 from McDonald's to Willow Street

Construction of new sidewalks on the north side of Steuben Street from Maple Street to the Big River Diner

Construction and installation of new sidewalks, lighting, trees, crosswalks, planters and benches in the core of downtown Bingen.

On January 31, 2002, a meeting was held with property and business owners to discuss the staging of this project and give input on the construction schedule. The meeting on March 28 will allow the general public this same opportunity.
