A most valuable team player

The Trout Lake School District has such a quarterback in its huddle.

His name is Robert Schmid and he is one of the winners of a 2004 Seattle Seahawks Community Quarterback award.

Schmid, who is actively involved with youth basketball, soccer and track and field programs in the community, was nominated for the award because of the leadership and labor he provided in seeing to the building of a new soccer field and track and field complex at the Trout Lake School.

Using his own tractors and equipment, Schmid volunteered his time to level, plant and nurture the field. He also recruited and organized others in the community to help out.

All told, Schmid's efforts saved the school district hundreds of thousands of dollars.

According to Doug Dearden, superintendent of the Trout Lake School, "The field has provided a safe and quality athletic field which everyone in the community enjoys.
