Textbook teamwork produced a 32-6 season-opening victory for Henkle Middle School's seventh-grade girls basketball team Nov. 11 at Washougal.
Ericka Ziegler put in a team-high eight points for the Grizzlies, while Kristie Morris and Mackenzie VanLaar shared team honors in rebounding with 10 each.
Shannon McNallan led the way at the defensive end, collecting seven steals to go with five points.
Also contributing in the scoring column were Morris, 4; VanLaar, Lori Stephenson, Caroline Kelly and Lauren Kelly, 2 each; and Chrissy Duniphen, 1.
The Grizzlies opened with a 12-point first quarter and led 18-0 at the break. They scored eight more in the third and finished off the game with six in the fourth.
"Our defense, rebounding and scoring balance were awesome," said Grizzlies Coach Michael Hannigan. "The girls' effort was a wonderful example of team play."
