THE DALLES — Cross country runners from the Gorge were among those competing Oct. 3 at the Mustang Invite in Heppner.

The top placing Gorge runner was Trout Lake’s Melody Stock, who was second in the girls 5,000-meter race. Stock, a sophomore, ran the course in 21 minutes, eight seconds. Heppner’s Lily Nichols won the race in 20:52.
