No. 3 Dufur extended its winning streak to a season-high nine games after a two-game sweep over Lyle-Wishram Tuesday by five-inning mercy-ruled scores of 10-0 and 20-1 in a non-league doubleheader at Dufur City Park.
After 10 innings of allowing one run, Dufur’s team earned run average dropped to 1.44 with 20 earned runs in 97 innings.
In the opener, Trever Tibbets went 2 for 3 with a double, a home run and three runs scored, as the Rangers broke open a 5-0 lead with five runs in the fifth inning to invoke the mercy rule in a 10-0 triumph.
Brent Sumner added two hits and three RBIs, and the duo of Jake Kortge and Kolbe Bales notched two hits and two RBIs apiece for a Ranger team that slugged out 12 hits.
Bailey Keever tossed a complete-game two-hitter with 11 strikeouts and two walks to earn his first win of the year.
In the nightcap, Bales and Keever each went 3 for 5 with home runs, two runs scored and five RBIs in a 20-1 five-inning game.
Tibbets had four hits, three runs and two RBIs and Connor Uhalde went 2 for 5 with three runs scored and two RBIs.
Dufur scored seven runs in the first inning and put Lyle away with 11 runs in the bottom of the third inning.
Kortge picked up his first win of the season after two innings of one-hit ball with five strikeouts.
Dufur (15-1 overall, 2-0 league) hosts Sherman (8-6, 0-2) at 2 p.m. Friday for a league doubleheader.
