Dufur Ranger head football coach Jack Henderson has revealed a schedule of events for the summer with conditioning, lifting and scrimmage leading off in the months of June and July.
Beginning on Monday June 15 through Friday August 7, the team will participate in lifting and conditioning from 7-9 p.m. nightly in the upper gym and football field.
“This will begin in the upper gym weight room and transition to the football field for agility/skill work,” Henderson said.
The only off days to such workout days are during the Oregon School Activities Association imposed moratorium week spanning from July 26 through August 1 when no activities can be scheduled by coaches or administrators.
The Dufur Ranger Conditioning Camp begins on Monday, August 10 and runs until August 13 with lifting sessions starting at 5 p.m., leading to camp at Dufur City Park from 6-8 p.m.
“All of these activities prior to doubles is optional, however, is very beneficial in to each player’s development,” Henderson said.
Daily doubles begin on Monday, August 17, and three-day schedules on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, go from 7:30 a.m. until 10 a.m., and then re-start from 5-7 p.m.
On Tuesdays and Thursday, the team will have one two-hour session running from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Dufur City Park.
“We will meet at the school for the morning practices at 7:30 a.m. and then transition to the park,” Henderson added. “All evening practices begin at Dufur City Park.”
Dufur High School requires a yearly physical for football, so all players are encouraged to have these completed by Monday, August 10.
Mid-Columbia Medical Center is offering physicals from 8 a.m. until noon on Saturday, July 25 and require an appointment. Cost of each physical examination starts at $25.
The Eight-Man Classic will be on Labor Day weekend starting on September 3 at the high school field.
This is Dufur’s largest fundraiser for the year, so players, parents and family members will be asked to assist with concessions or tickets during the weekend.
“We don’t require families to pay participation fees, so please help us continue that philosophy,” Henderson said.
