Small businesses can get Cover Oregon aid

In guidance to states with troubled exchanges on Friday, federal officials say small businesses that qualify for financial assistance can bypass Cover Oregon and purchase directly from an insurance company. The administration says a business would have to buy a plan certified by Cover Oregon.

Cover Oregon has struggled to build a working online enrollment system. It’s enrolling individuals through a backup process that relies heavily on staff, but the small business options have been suspended.

The administration previously announced similar guidance for individuals.
