The Oregon Investment Board (OIB) is seeking candidates interested in serving in an at-large position.
The Board is responsible for providing grants and loans to advance economic development interests on the Oregon side of the Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area. The Board sets policies, provides oversight for the National Scenic Area economic development funds managed by Mid-Columbia Economic Development District, analyzes loan and grant requests and participates in the Columbia Gorge Bi-State Advisory Council.
The Oregon Investment board is governed by a seven member Board with two representatives from each of the three Oregon counties in the national scenic area (Wasco, Hood River and Multnomah counties) and one at-large representative.
The at-large position on the Board is currently held by Andrea Klaas with the Port of The Dalles. Klaas has served two terms (six years).
“During my tenure on the Oregon Investment Board we were able to support many locally owned businesses, helping them to grow and expand,” Klaas said. “The personal connections with the business owners, and the great ideas they had, made being a member of the OIB a great experience.” Andrea will complete her service to the OIB in November 2013.
Desired qualifications for a new board member include: background in finance or economic and community development; residence in Wasco, Hood River or Multnomah counties; and an interest in the future of economic development for the region.
To apply, candidates are asked to submit an interest form, statement of interest and resume by 5 p.m. Nov. 8, for consideration of appointment. The at-large representative is appointed through the Office of the Governor. As an at-large position, applicants from anywhere in (the Oregon geography of the NSA) will be accepted.
