Flora Gibson photo/fileThe defending Tri-Valley Conference champion The Dalles High Riverhawks (6-3 TVC, 12-8 overall) won two road games last week to help solidify their position in the league standings, as they seek to reach the OSAA Class 4A volleyball state playoffs for a second straight year.
The Riverhawks won 3-0 over both Gladstone and Madras. The Riverhawks also lost a nonleague match-up to North Bend on Oct. 14 at Marshfield High School.
The Riverhawks are tied for second in the six-team TVC standings with Estacada (6-3 TVC, 13-8 overall) with one game left on the regular season schedule. The Riverhawks play their final league contest Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at home against the winless Molalla High Indians (0-9 TVC, 0-16 overall). Estacada plays its final regular season game Wednesday at Gladstone. If the two squads remain tied, second place is determined by the team that is higher in the OSAA rankings.
The top-two TVC teams advance to the 16-team state playoffs beginning with first-round games on Oct. 28. The third-place team will compete in an Oct. 21 play-in round contest with the winner earning a state playoff berth.
