The 10th Annual Kiteboarding 4 Cancer (KB4C) event held last week had its best fundraising year ever, with event organizer Tonia Farman reporting after deadline for the Wednesday edition of the News that the event had raised a grand total of $195,796. The funds also made it possible to reduce the waitlist for Camp Koru adventure camps for cancer fighters and survivors to zero.
Register before Aug. 1 to save money on BOTG Half Marathon & 10K
The annual Bridge of the Gods Half Marathon and 10K returns for a third year on Aug. 7, but registrants can save a little money by signing up for the event before Aug. 1. The cost of registering for the 5K (new to the event this year) and the 10K is $55; it is $85 for the half marathon. Prices go up by $10 for all events if runners or walkers register after that. Hole-in-one recorded at Indian Creek Golf Course
Jim Nichols, of Hood River, recorded a hole-in-one at Indian Creek Golf Course on Tuesday. Nichols achieved the hole-in-one using a 5 hybrid on hole No. 8 (156 yards, par 3). Matt Kyriax, golf shop manager at Indian Creek, reported that it was the 77-year-old’s first-ever ace.
