Hood River Valley High School athletes earned conference honors for their play in fall 2018 volleyball and soccer, including Katie Kennedy, who has been named Player of the Year for the Intermountain Conference in volleyball.
Three members of the soccer team earned First Team selections, and Kevin Haspela and co-coaches were named Co-Coaching Staff of the Year, along with Kyle Chown of Ridgeview.
First Team IMC selections for girls soccer were Mira Olson, a sophomore midfielder; Amelia Huxtable, freshman defender; and Jovanna De La Torre, senior forward.
Boys soccer First Teamers are Robby Running, senior midfielder; and Fabian Magana, junior forward.
Volleyball
Kennedy, a senior, was named top All-Around player along with Rylee Troutman of Ridgeview.
Emily Curtis, also a senior, won top Hitter honors along with Reagan Wilkins of Crook County High School.
Carli Stroud, a senior, shared top Middle Blocker honors with Nicole Bossemeyer of Ridgeview.
Setter Chloe Kurahara, a junior, earned Honorable Mention.
The Eagles won fourth place in the OSAA Class 5A tournament.
Soccer
Girls — Second Team IMC honors went to HRVHS seniors Abigail Mitchell, a midfielder; Barrett Ihde, goalkeeper; and sophomore midfielder Abby McCormack.
Silva Sankari, a junior defender, received Honorable Mention.
Boys — Second Team IMC honors went to Manuel Trejo a defender, and Rafal Kenzo Nakanishi, a midfielder, both seniors.
Receiving Honorable Mention were sophomore Ivan Solano, a sophomore forward, and Ivan Carabantes, a senior defender.
