Jazlynn Morris-Holmes named TVC player of the year

THE DALLES — The Tri-Valley Conference (TVC) champion and Class 4A volleyball state tournament runner-up The Dalles High Riverhawks (8-0 TVC, 18-6 overall) had nine players selected for all conference awards by a vote of coaches.

The award highlights included the mother/daughter duo of Jazlynn Morris-Holmes, who earned the player-of-the-year award, and her mother, Teresa Morris, who received the coach-of-the-year award.

Morris-Holmes, a sophomore outside hitter, was also one of three players selected for TVC first-team awards along with junior middle blocker Evelyn Rogers, and senior middle blocker Cleo Corbin.

Senior setter Caitlynn Gatton, freshman setter Taylor Tuia and junior libero Edie May each earned TVC second team awards. Seniors Aizlynn Rubio (defensive specialist/libero) and Noraya Gallegos (defensive specialist/libero) both were selected for TVC honorable mention awards.

Jazlynn Morris-Holmes was also selected to the OSAA 4A all-state first team. The team was the result of voting from information provided by each district with input from Oregon coaches and athletic directors. Gatton and May were selected to the second team all-state, and Corbin was a third-team all-state pick.

In addition, Morris-Holmes was the lone unanimous choice for the 2025 Class 4A all tournament team, as voted on by the coaches at the state tourney.  Corbin was a second team, all tourney pick.
