Indoor Track Stars

Hood River Valley High School and Wy’east Middle School runners representing the Hood River Track Club ran last weekend at a Tracktown USA indoor track meet, putting up some solid times and places in the mile. The meet was held at an abandoned warehouse in Northwest Portland and was a part of a series of meets that provide competitive opportunities for athletes of a variety of ages and abilities. Highlighting the meet was Wy’east eighth-grader Lottie Bromham’s first-finish in the 11-14 mile finals, where she blew away the completion with a time of 5 minutes, 48.65 seconds. She was 16 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. HRV senior Justin Crosswhite was second in the 15 and up mile with a time of 4:34.01, and classmate Quinn Fetkenhour was fifth with a time of 4:45.87. HRV junior Jacob Bromham finished sixth in his section of the mile with a time of 4:59.88 (HRV XC Coach Brandon Bertram ran his own mile, dropping an impressive 5:02.45). The 200-meter track will be disassembled and moved to the Oregon Convention Center for use at the USATF Indoor Championships (March 11-12) and IAAF World Indoor Championships (March 17-20).
