HOOD RIVER – Hood River Valley sophomore Emilia Greenwood won two individual events at the March 11-14 Oregon Interscholastic Snowboard Association state meet at Mt. Hood Meadows.
Greenwood overcame some challenging conditions on the mountain to win the girls banked slalom and halfpipe competitions, leading the Eagles at state. The event attracted 170 competitors from Oregon and Southwest Washington.
OISA athletes compete in banked slalom, boardercross, slopestyle and halfpipe events throughout the regular season within their league. The league results help determine state qualifiers.
HRV’s top boys rider, and member of three previous state championship teams, Landon Edholm, was out with a broken collarbone. Senior Diego Paredes led the boys team with a promising crew of younger boys stepping up and scoring some strong finishes, including third place in banked slalom. Team members and their finishes were: Paredes, fourth; Nico Parziale, tenth; Sam Marcotte, 39th; Miles Chavez, 60th; and Oliver Carsley, 83rd.
Greenwood led HRV in girls banked slalom with her first-place effort. Teammate Sierra Coleman was 38th and Savina Davis was 49th. In girls slopestyle, Greenwood was seventh; Davis was 17th; and Coleman was 26th.
In boys slopestyle, Carsley was 52nd and Parziale was 63rd. Paredes had an outstanding run but it was determined that his corked 720 was too corked, and the judges counted it as an invert and disqualified him.
In boys halfpipe, Paredes was fifth; Carsley was eighth; and Parziale was 10th.
The state boardercross event was cancelled because of inclement weather.
Greenwood is competing March 27 to April 2 at the 2026 US Snowboard National Championships at Copper Mountain, CO.
