VANCOUVER — Luther Thomas was ninth overall in the boys varsity race, leading Columbia High to third place in a seven-team Trico League cross country meet Oct. 1 at Vancouver Lake.
Thomas ran the 5,000-meter course in 18 minutes, 47 seconds. Teammate Colby Clark was 12th in 18:53, Everett Coyner was 16th in 19:08, Jack Brooks was 19th in 19:18, and Ethan Hayes was 22nd (19:29) to complete the Bruin scoring. The 42-second spacing among the top five Columbia runners was the best pack, timewise, the Bruins have had this season in the same race.
Lilah Zimmerman led the Columbia girls to second place among five scoring teams behind La Center. Zimmerman was runner-up to La Center’s Sasha Pash, 20:06 to 20:46. Columbia’s Kathryn O’Connor was fourth in 21:11; Maisy Kollman was 10th in 22:29; Maya Tama was 18th (23:36); and Eda O’Connor was 22nd in 24:11.
