THE GORGE — Top-ranked Dufur, Lyle/Wishram, and Sherman County have two weeks to prepare for the 2025 Class 1A state football playoffs.
For Dufur that means a final eight-man road game at 7 p.m. Oct. 30 at Cove. The 8-0 Rangers were idle last week. They will enter the playoffs in the Nov. 14-15 quarterfinals, having earned a first-round bye.
Lyle/Wishram (5-4) completed its eight-man regular season with a 52-12 loss at Imbler (5-3). The Cougars are in fourth place in District 3 but are ranked No. 9 overall because of their tough schedule — two of Lyle’s losses are to Dufur. Lyle is in line for an at-large playoff berth, which will be determined after Nov. 1 games are complete.
Sherman County (7-2) won its final six-man regular season game, 27-14, over visiting Mitchell/Spray/Wheeler. The Huskies are ranked No. 6 in six-man and in a tie for second place in District 1. Sherman has clinched one of the district’s three automatic berths into the 12-team six-man playoffs. The Huskies will open the state playoffs the weekend of Nov. 7-8 with a home game in Moro.
