The South Wasco County High Redsides recorded a fourth straight win in Class 1A Special District 1 six-man football, 48-6, on Oct. 5 over C.S. Lewis Academy at George Fox University in Newberg.
The Redsides (3-0 SD1, 5-1 overall) built a 26-6 halftime advantage.
“It was a good, fun game and it was the first time we played a game under the lights this year and everybody had a good time,” said Coach Mike Waine. “They [Watchmen] did really good for a team in its first season of having a football program. We knew going into the contest that we would just use this as a way to kind of polish things up and get ready for our next game. We played great defense, and they [Watchmen] couldn’t really cover our standout offensive players.”
South Wasco was led on offense by junior quarterback Storm McCoy (11-for-15 passing, 248 yards, four touchdowns) and senior running back/linebacker Joey Holloway (14 carries, 171 yards rushing, two touchdowns and four catches for 103 yards and a touchdown).
George Barnett had eight tackles for South Wasco.
