The Dalles girls’ basketball program is offering its annual three-day fundamental hoops camp from 8:30-11:30 a.m. starting Wednesday, June 15 at The Dalles Middle School in the gym. Boys and girls will be taught different parts of the game by coaches along with current and former players. This camp is open for boys and girls from the fourth-through-eighth grades, and the cost is $50 per person. There will be competitive drills, techniques taught, scrimmages and other aspects of the game covered. With the fees, every participant will receive a free t-shirt. TD XC starts summer workout The Dalles Cross Country team will begin its offseason running program starting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, June 13 at Sorosis Park in The Dalles. This is open to all runners who are in middle and high school, including St. Mary’s Academy students. During June, the plan is to meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6:30 p.m. On Monday and Friday, the team will practice at Sorosis Park, and on Wednesday nights, they will work out at Lewis and Clark Park on 1st and Union Street. Youth football signups on tap The Dalles Youth Football organization has registration open for youths from first grade through sixth. There is an $80 early bird price until June 15 and the price goes up to $100 price for tackle athletes from grades 3-6. For flag football for boys and girls in grades 1-2, the costs start at $40. Parents will be asked to volunteer time working in different parts, ranging from front gate duties, concessions, cleanup, coaching and other areas of need that may arise. The Dalles High School softball program is holding its inaugural softball clinic for girls between the ages of 6-18 starting this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Wahtonka Gym in The Dalles.
