Dufur High recorded a season-high point total in an OSAA/Class 1A football first round state playoff Nov. 6, with a 58-40 come-from-behind win over Gold Beach.
Many fans considered Saturday’s Class 1A eight-man football matchup between Dufur and the Adrian/Jordan Valley Antelopes as the unofficial state championship game. Few would argue, as both were undefeated and considered the two best teams in the state.

Following her record-breaking efforts at the Mustang Invitational last week in Heppner, South Wasco County senior Ana Popchock scored victories in both hurdles events and claimed first place in the triple jump to help the Redsides to 54 points and third place at the Condon-Wheeler Invite Friday in Condon.
Ana Popchock ran her first-place total to six on the season after scoring top honors in three events and teammate Madisen Davis put up a first-place finish in the javelin to lead the South Wasco County girls’ squad to 53 points for fifth place in the 16-team field at Friday’s River’s Edge Meet held in Umatilla.
At the six-team Mustang Invitational in Heppner, the South Wasco County Redsides amassed 13 personal records, Michael Cuevas grabbed four wins to lead the boys and Ana Popchock drummed out two individual victories and helped the girls’ 4x100-relay team to a win.
With an expanded roster ready to face Gresham and Reynolds in a three-team dual, The Dalles track and field team totaled 93 personal records and added 29 season records for an impressive output at Gresham.
