To the editor: Classes get underway this week in the schools of North Wasco County School District, so as you are driving around town I ask you to use particular caution around schools and also keep an eye out for students walking or biking to school.
We are fortunate to live in a wonderful, supportive and diverse community. In fact, in my three-and-a-half years of living in Hood River, I’ve been struck by your caring, neighborly and giving nature. Our willingness to try to understand one another, to learn from each other, and to honor and celebrate our cultural differences gives me great pride and fulfillment as your school superintendent.
Daniel Hunter, who currently serves as project coordinator for The Dalles, has been hired to be the city’s new human resources director. Hunter has a master’s degree in public administration with a human resources concentration from American Military University in Charles Town, W. Va.
