HOOD RIVER — In November 2021 the City of Hood River agreed to contract with Community Development Partners (CDP) to develop the seven acre Rand Road property into affordable housing. CDP is currently in the process of applying for funding and making changes to the number of units at each income percentage level.
Bids for the construction of a new Elks temple will be opened at the local lodge rooms on Friday, March 20. A building committee, chairmaned (sic) by Art Hansen, met with Annand and Kennedy, architects, on Feb. 23 to accept final plans and authorize the advertising of bids.
Roger Whitecotton comes out of the new subterranean vault installed in the past two weeks at Rand Road and Sherman Avenue, as part of the City of Hood River’s water line upgrade.
A pedestrian bridge serving the west end of the waterfront was just one idea mentioned Monday in City Council applicant interviews (story, page A9). Not a new idea, but one worth renewing, especially as the city embarks on a long-range transportation management plan for the west side of the city.
To the editor: In her last ’Crosstalk’ offering, Ms. Ricart chose to sing the praises of Ayn Rand. Rand became a darling of the Tea Party who embraced her pseudo philosophy which sought to justify the privilege of the wealthy and demonize not only the lazy, undeserving poor, but the working middle-classes as well.
