The Alpha Lambda Delta chapter at University of the Cumberlands (UC) welcomed 43 new members, including Payton Rigert of Hood River, during its annual banquet March 30.
The National Wrestling Hall of Fame’s Tricia Saunders High School Excellence Award for the Outstanding Female Wrestler of the Year in Oregon goes to three-time girls wrestling state champ and Hood River Valley High School senior, Payton Rigert. She is the daughter of Trey and Deona Rigert.

A strong season for the HRV wrestling team culminated with a handful of podium finishes at the OSAA 5A state wrestling championships held last weekend at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland.

The Hood River Valley High School Athletics Department has released their athletes of the month for December: Noah Wachsmuth and Payton Rigert, representing HRV wrestling, and Marlie Bloomster, representing the HRV girls basketball team.
Payton Rigert and Charley (Kayla) Boonstra, both Hood River Valley High School seniors, have been selected as October Students of the Month and were presented checks for $100 at a recent Lodge meeting.
