The Hattenhauer Distributing Columbia Gorge Hustlers (35-3) bounced back from an opening-round, 6-5, loss to Eugene July 20 and won in the consolation round of the American Legion Baseball Single A state tournament, 8-0, over Roseburg July 21 at Bob Brack Stadium at North Marion High School in Aurora.
The Hattenhauer Distributing Columbia Gorge Hustlers had early momentum in the opening round of the American Legion Baseball Single A state tournament in Aurora, but the Eugene Ole A’s came from behind to win the July 20 game.
The Hustlers, guided by Coach Pat Clark, outhit the A’s 8-6, but the Eugene team pulled out a 6-5 win Wednesday at Bob Brack Stadium at North Marion High School.
Following a three-month-long OSAA Class 5A season on The Dalles High Riverhawks baseball team, the players are back on the field competing again just three weeks after the conclusion of the season on May 17.
Nearly every member of the The Dalles High Riverhawk squad, along with players from other area schools, are playing summer league baseball on the Hattenhauer Distributing-sponsored Columbia Gorge Hustlers American Legion team.
The Dalles struggled through their 2022 Class 5A baseball schedule, but the Riverhawks did show some improvement by winning one more game than they did during the 2021 season.
